James “Jim” Estes, 78, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. John Catholic Church, 600 Columbus Ave., Benton Harbor, MI, 49022 with Fr. John Ambrose officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M., on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085 with prayers recited at 7:00 P.M. A private burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Readiness Center. Jim Was born October 16, 1945 in Benton Harbor, MI to Melvin & Jean (Yendes) Estes. He graduated from St. Johns High School in Benton Harbor in 1963. Jim served his country in the United States Air Force from 1963 until 1965. On April 27, 1968 he married Annette Howley in Benton Harbor. Jim enjoyed golfing and was an avid University of Notre Dame fan.

Jim is survived by his wife Annette Estes; daughters Alissa Estes and Jolie Estes; sister Janie Simmons; brothers & sisters-in-laws Joyce Norkus, Elinor Wilson, James (Margo) Howley, Sharon (Zeke) Virsik, David (Paula) Howley and Mike (Donna) Howley; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
