James Lynn “Pluto” Jones

Pluto's Obituary

James Lynn Jones, affectionately known to many as "Pluto," peacefully departed this life at the age of 67 on April 13, 2024.

He was born to Annie Mae Brown on February 15, 1957, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. James was raised by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Truesilla Jones in Benton Harbor, where he spent most of his life.

After attending Benton Harbor High School, James performed a number of jobs, earning several certifications for his janitorial skills and other handiwork. He will always be remembered for his eagerness to help friends and loved ones with various tasks and household projects. However, he was most known for his love of cars. James spent a great deal of time learning about and working on cars and trucks. That was his true passion.

James' greatest accomplishment was having his daughter, Jennifer with high school sweetheart, Ramona White. Jenny was his pride and joy.

James was proceeded in death by his mother, grandparents, and wife Janice Jones. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Amoako of the Washington, D.C. area, his sister Kimberly Brown of Battle Creek, Michigan, his brother Willie Brown, Jr. of Battle Creek, Michigan, extended family, and a host of lifelong friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A Celebration of Life in Loving Memory of James L. Jones, will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2;00 pm at Broadway Park. The park is located at intersection of Broadway and Weld St. in Benton Harbor, MI. Rain or shine all are welcome.
