Jerry's Obituary

Jerome “Jerry” Warren passed away peacefully on Saturday, October, 23, 2021, at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Stevensville, at the age of 94.

Jerry’s life began November 11, 1926, in Byron Center, MI. He was the oldest of four siblings; Betty, Smi Valley, CA, Donna, Lake Havasu, NV and Len, Watervliet, MI. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty and Donna.

In 1932 the family moved from Byron Center to Traverse City. In 1934, the family moved to Middleville, and at age 12 the family moved again to Watervliet where Jerry entered the eighth grade upon graduation. In 1944 Jerry joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Chicago, IL. After 10 weeks of Boot Camp, he was assigned to Signalman School Sampson Naval Station, Geneva, NY. Upon graduation, 2nd in his class, he was awarded 3rd class Petty Officer. He was then assigned to Treasure Island, CA and boarded the U.S.S.APL-19. The ship got underway to the South Pacific and Philippine Sea Frontier where he proudly served 3 ½ years and then was honorably discharged.

Upon arriving at home in 1947, Jerry entered Iowa’s Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, IA, and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Business Administration and minor in History and Physical Education along with a teacher’s certificate. Jerry would decide to chose a career in business with Whirlpool Corporation in 1951, retiring 38 years later in 1989 as a Senior Buyer. After retirement, Jerry enjoyed playing golf every week, spring through fall with his dear brother Lenny and friends Wes and Tilford Arnt. He also loved to play golf with his nephews, Mike and Tommy Wurn.

In 1954, Jerry married Karla Kerlikowski, and had two children, Steven, Choteau, MT., and Lorri, Benardsville, NC. The marriage lasted until Karla’s untimely death at 29, years of age in 1963. Then Jerry met Sue Watt Pollard along with son, Rick in 1965, and were married on year later in 1966. The marriage lasted 51 years until, after a long illness, Sue passed away November 21, 2017. Jerry lived a long and loving life. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. Services will be held privately for family and friends at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph.
