Betty Jean Adams

Betty Jean Adams, 96, of Stevensville passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019 at the home of her daughter in Union Mills, NC. Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Court, St. Joseph at 10:00 AM Friday, Feb 8, 2019. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dan Colthorp officiating. A luncheon will follow. Betty will be buried beside her husband Richard at North Shore Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of The Carolina Foothills, 374 Hudlow Rd. Forest City, NC 28043. Betty was born May 9, 1922 to Albert and Rena (Roush) Dorstewitz in Benton Harbor. She was bookkeeper at Troost Bros Furniture until it closed and then office manager for Educational Services, Stevensville. She and Richard (Dick) Adams were married June 21, 1945 in Benton Harbor. She was a member of First UMC St. Joseph. Betty is survived by her sister Jeanine Wood of Reno, NV, her daughter Karen (James) King of Union Mills, NC and four grandchildren, Matthew (Carol) King, Rebecca (John) Cronin, Jason King, and Nathan King; eight great-grandchildren Justine (Mat) Fairclough, Jared (Bianca) King, Cassandra (Bryant) Magnus, Nichole Cronin, Laurie King, Elizabeth King, Arlen Milner and Shane Milner; two great-great-grandchildren Finley Rose Fairclough and John Daniel Magnus: and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard (2008) and son David (1969).
