Nancy Bowes

Nancy Norwood Bowes, 63, of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at home after a long battle with cancer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services. Nancy was born on June 8, 1955, in St. Joseph to Verrill Norwood and Patricia (Fehlberg) Carlson. Nancy received her Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan Technological University and her Master’s Degree from the United States Air Force’s Institute for Technology. Nancy loved her family, her pups and her Air Force career. She was an accomplished entrepreneur, cook, fund raiser and volunteer for many causes, especially dog rescue. Nancy spearheaded the creation of the Water Street Glass Works Blossom Fehlberg Metal Studio, named after her much beloved Grandmother. She designed and co-owned The Spa at the Inn at Harbor Shores. Nancy was a St. Joseph High School Drama Productions Volunteer for several years, including fabricating the ‘memorable’ Cinderella’s carriage for one production. She was also an active Saint Joseph Public School Foundation Member & supporter. Nancy was known as ‘The Problem Solver “– no task was beyond her ability to resolve. Nancy is survived by her husband Bob and children; Megan Beth  (Andrew) Aubrey of Austin, TX and their daughters Whitney, Adalyn and Mia all of whom loved their Yaya, Timothy  (Nikki) Bowes of St. Joseph, MI and Ryan (Gregg Gaddy) Bowes of Los Angeles, CA; as well her beloved dogs Lexie, Fenway, Lily & Annie; her mother Patricia Carlson of Benton Harbor; father, Verrill Norwood of Cleveland, TN, siblings, Bruce Carlson of St. Joseph, Beth (Jason) Carlson-Gaddis of Windsor, VT, Blair Carlson of San Antonio, TX, Karin (Jim) Fender of Portage, Diane (Mike) Santman of Schoolcraft, MI, Christine (Leif) Norland of St. Joseph, Becky (Chris) Myers of Hamilton, MI, Grant (Valerie) Carlson of Gobles, MI, & Jeff (Linda) Norwood of Chattanooga, TN and many nieces & nephews. Her grandparents Blossom & Fred Fehlberg preceded her in death. A Celebration of her life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
