Dana R. Bahm, 70, of Mattawan, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away, Monday, February 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Dana was born January 13, 1948 in Benton Harbor to Ronald & Bonnaire (Shea) Bahm. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1966, earned two Associate Degrees from Lake Michigan College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Sienna Heights College. Dana was a Vietnam Veteran, serving his country in the United States Air Force. On February 4, 1978, he married the former Barbara Nybro in St. Joseph. Dana started his working career in high school with National Food Stores. After his military detail, he gained employment with Hughes Plastics in St. Joseph, then Lear in Mendon, Michigan, and most recently with Summit Polymers in Portage, Michigan from where he retired. Dana was a charter member of the Berrien Bass Busters where he held many offices including President. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening and spending time with his family and many friends. His favorite holiday was Halloween. He enjoyed decorating his home & yard which became an area attraction for Halloween night.
Dana is survived by his wife Barbara; his children-Charles (Connie) DeGraaf of Benton Harbor, George (Jennifer) Bahm of Crystal, Michigan, Rachel Bahm of Mattawan; seven grandchildren-Nathan, Lindsay, Conner, Isaac, Claire, Ryne & Olin; two great-grandchildren-Callen & Layla; several cousins; and a life-long friend Tom (Linda) Smith of Bridgeport, MI. Dana was preceded in death by his parents.
