Michelle Marie Lombardo, died from complications of pneumonia on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, surrounded by loving family members, at WellStar North Fulton Hospital, Alpharetta, Georgia.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11 AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Susan Sparta officiating. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan honoring Michelle’s love for animals especially her cat Tinsel. Michelle was born on April 15, 1967 at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor. She graduated from Michigan Lutheran High School in 1985. After high school she attended Southwestern Michigan College and Lake Michigan College. Blessed with an aptitude and affinity for computer technology, Michelle was one of the first women to start her own computer consulting business in Southwest Michigan. In 1998, she moved to New Jersey, where she pursued a career in information technology personnel recruitment and placement. Moving to the Atlanta area in 2003, Michelle started her own personnel placement enterprise which she continued until her health failed. She was an avid sports fan, focusing on her favorite Chicago teams; the Bears, Bulls, and Cubs. Michelle will always be remembered for her great sense of humor, beautiful smile, and kind heart. She will be truly missed by the many lives she touched.
Michelle is survived by her loving partner, Bill Lyon, of Alpharetta, GA; mother, Lynn Eloise Lombardo of Benton Harbor; sister, Deanna Lynn (Thomas) Roy of Draper, UT; brother, Jason Thomas (Chrissy) Lombardo of Sodus; nephews, Steven Roy, Nathan Roy, Joshua Roy, and Dillon Lombardo; godparents, Dr. Philip and Marietta LoVerde of Helotes, TX; stepmother, Jacalyn Lombardo, Republic, MI; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Michelle was preceded in death by her father, James Anthony Lombardo of Republic, MI; paternal grandparents, James and Ardys Lombardo; and maternal grandparents, Virgil Bennett and Elizabeth Allkins.
