Marie Louise Lietz

Marie L. Lietz, 93, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, January, 2018, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 10AM, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3590 Lincoln Ave., with Pastor Steve Hartten officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, January 7, 2018, from 2PM until 4PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Marie was born on September 20, 1924, to William & Anna (Nitz) Trapp in Sawyer. She graduated from New Troy High School. On June 8, 1946, she married Raymond Lietz at the Zion United Church of Christ in Baroda. Marie worked as a supervisor for VM in Stevensville and then for IPM in St. Joseph. Marie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing Bingo at local Senior Centers. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved spending time with her family. Marie is survived by her husband Raymond; children, Duane (Marlene) Lietz of Eau Claire and Dennis (Janet) Lietz of Ortonville, MI; sister, Shirley (Bud) Tyler of Stevensville; step grandchildren, Matthew (Terri) Sernau and Kelly (Bryan) Scholtes; step great-grandchildren, Brett Sernau and Addison Scholtes. Marie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Arthur Trapp, Victor Trapp, Lorraine Smith and Richard (Deloris) Trapp.
