Glenda's Obituary

Glenda J. Bunker, 77, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at her home. Glenda will be laid to rest in Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville in a private ceremony. A celebration of Glenda’s life will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Safe Shelter for Domestic Violence and the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan. Those wishing to share a memory of Glenda or sign her guestbook may do so online at www.starks-menchiger.com. Glenda was born on February 27, 1940 in Hornersville, MO to Vester and Helen (Calhoun) Ezell. She was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School in 1958. After attending Michigan State University, marriage and raising a family, Glenda went back to school and received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University. Glenda volunteered for many years at the Curious Kids Museum in St. Joseph, and later worked for the Berrien County Area Agency on Aging as a case worker until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling in her earlier years, and was always a life-long learner and avid reader. In her later years, Glenda became a political “junkie” and strongly supported politicians who advocated for women, children and those less fortunate. In recognition of her support, Glenda was a member of President Obama’s “kitchen” cabinet – and proudly displayed her certificate and refrigerator magnet bestowing this honor. Although Glenda’s health declined, she devoted her last years to her son and granddaughter in ways too numerous to list. She is survived by her son Jeff McIntyre of Madison, WI; granddaughter Alina McIntyre of Medford, MA; sister-in-law Mary Jane Ezell of Coloma; many nieces and nephews, including Donald Ezell of Coloma, Pamela Ezell of Holland, MI, Deborah Ezell of Prior Lake, MN, Linda (Tam) Copenhaver of St. Augustine, FL, William Ezell of Gainesville, GA; great-nieces Ashley and Chloe Copenhaver and Gabrielle Ezell; and great-nephews Brandon and Gary Ezell. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Sonny Ezell, William “Bill” Ezell and Edward Ezell.
