Richard ‘Dick’ David Evans, 75, of Coloma, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 P.M. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Robert Duehlmeyer, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Dick was born on May 12, 1942 in Grand Rapids to Frank and Margaret Ann (Meaney) Evans. He was a graduate of Bridgman High School. A technician by trade, Dick worked for multiple phone companies for many years. On August 13, 1994 he married Bonnie Mitchell at St. Paul’s Lutheran church is Sodus.
An avid woodworker, Dick enjoyed spending time is his pole barn creating and listening to his favorite Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson songs. He was a history buff and enjoyed watching Fox news and loved his dogs, Lucy and Ricky. Dick’s greatest joy, however; was his family. He adored them and they will miss him greatly.
Dick is survived by his wife Bonnie; children Jennifer (David Roberts) Evans of Mishawaka, Heidi (Matthew) Plocher of Benton Harbor, Julie Blevins of Coloma, Bill Church of Coloma, and Fred Church of California; grandchildren Andrew, Tiffany, Molly, Megan, Max, Maddie, Libby (Chris), Tyler, Abby, William, Ian, Alyssa, Brionna (Andrew), Fred, and Kareen (Scott); and siblings Phyllis Nystrom, Don Evans, and Mary (Ken Langworthy) Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters Tiffany Evans and Karen Church; grandson Blake Holcomb, and son-in-law Marc Blevins.
