Esther H. Haack

Esther Helene Haack, 96, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at her home.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.  A family memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home.  Esther was born October 5, 1920 in South Bend, Ind. to Ralph O. & Goldie Mae “Inez” (Hecht) Hoover. She was graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1938. On June 21, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. she was married to Ray Warren Haack I., with whom she celebrated 75 years of marriage.  Along with raising five children she helped run The Letter Shoppe printing business out of the family home.  Esther is survived by three sons: Craig of St. Joseph, Brian (Betty) of Sister Lakes, Christopher (Victoria) of Arden; two daughters: Carole Fowler and Sally (David) Durr, both of St. Joseph; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Esther was preceded in death by her husband and her parents and siblings.
