Wanda Hare, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away, Monday, August 14, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Fairplain Presbyterian Church, 210 W. Napier Ave., Benton Harbor, with Rev. LaVerne Davenport officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at North Grove Cemetery, Celina, Ohio. Wanda was born April 27, 1928 in Kenton, Ohio to Elmer & Mae (Clawson) Jones. On February 4, 1945 she married Forrest “Gene” Hare in Celina, Ohio. Wanda was employed be Essex Wire Co. which became United Technology in Topeka, Indiana, retiring in 1986 after twenty-six years. After the death of her husband in 1988, she moved to St. Joseph to make her home with her daughter Sondra. Wanda was a member of Fairplain Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Circle of the Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, reading, camping, and spending time with her family.
Wanda is survived by her daughters-Sondra (Keith) Sheppard of St. Joseph, Tonda (Michael) Cripe of Goshen, IN; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-Martha Scharf & Joyce Wagner-both of Kenton, OH; and numerous nieces & nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Gene on August 9, 1988, her son Steven Hare in 2002, daughter-in-law Deborah Hare in 2000, a sister Virginia Weinkin, and three brothers-Wilbur, Paul & Arnold Jones.
