Doris L. Bauman

Doris L. Bauman, 81, formerly of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at Allendale Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Allendale. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM, Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 Delaware, Benton Harbor, with Fr. Michael Rejent officiating. Entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph with the Rosary  recited at 7:30 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard’s Catholic Church or Heartland Hospice. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School class of 1955. On August 29, 1959 she wed William Bauman in Benton Harbor. Doris kept a busy schedule caring for her home and her children. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Doris enjoyed attending swimming classes at the YWCA where she met numerous dear friends. She was very devoted to her family and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Doris is survived by her children Mark (Sherie) Bauman of College Park, MD, Janet (Richard) Worden of Ann Arbor, Julie (Chris) Laske of Grand Rapids, Marla Marsala of Grand Rapids, and Cinthia Bauman of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Amanda and Eric Worden, Joshua, Drew and Bailey Laske and Dominic Marsala; brothers, Robert (Sue) Garlanger of St. Augustine, FL and Charles (Jackie) Garlanger of St. Joseph; sister-in-law Ruth Ann Garlanger of Benton Harbor; brother-in-law Gary Backus of Petoskey; dear cousins Beverly Paukowits of Benton Harbor and Paul (Anna) Garlanger of St. Joseph and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband William on August 19, 2003, brother Richard ‘Dick’ Garlanger, sisters Delores Phillips and Joan Hryshko and son-in-law Michael Marsala in October 2010.
