Eduard's Obituary

Eduard Pfeifer, 87, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 10, 2017 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 15, at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Glenn Rosenbaum officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Memorial donations in Ed’s name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or the Michigan Diabetes Foundation.  Those wishing to sign Ed’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.   Ed was born January 12, 1930 in Volhynia, Poland to Heinrich & Lydia (Schroeder) Pfeifer. On August 5, 1956 he married the former Antonie “Toni” Schalin in Bottrop, Germany.  Ed & Toni moved to the United States in 1958, settling in St. Joseph.  Ed was employed at Allied Signal in St. Joseph, retiring in 1997 after twenty-seven years.  Ed was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, St. Joseph Kicker’s Club and the DANK.   He was a hard-working man who enjoyed people and having a good time.  Ed built his own home with help from friends and enjoyed tending to the house and yard.  In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, camping and being outside.   Ed is survived by his daughter Sylvia Pfeifer of St. Joseph; two sisters-Erika Fink of Germany and Irma Pfeiffer of Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous nieces & nephews-mostly in Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife Toni on March 31, 2006, his parents, his sister Ollie, and three brothers-Reinhold, Arthur & Adolf.
