Bernardine Johns

Bernardine Johns, 89, of Eau Claire, MI passed away peacefully Friday, January 6, 2017 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.  A Mass will be celebrated on February 11, 2017, at 10 A.M. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Benton Harbor. Internment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus, MI. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Special Olympics or Camp Millhouse. Known as Bernie to her friends, she worked for the Trade Lines in Eau Claire, MI until her retirement. Bernardine was a member of St. Bernards and St. Johns Catholic Church. In her spare time Bernie enjoyed relaxing on her front porch with her neighbors and friends and her dog Buddy. She was an avid Tigers and Red Wings Fan.  Bernardine is survived by her children Cathi (Donald Curtis) Kushion of Alma, MI Michael (Susan) Johns of Orlando Fla, and MaryAnn Johns of Sodus, MI. grandchildren Cory (Julie) Kushion of New York, NY, Katie (Jeff) Sexton of Hamilton,MI, and Hayley Johns of Orlando, FL; great grandchildren Carter, Grace, Emmett, and Nolan Sexton. Bernardine was preceded in death by her parents, brother Eugene Gwisdala, son Martin Johns and the father of her children Charles “Glenn” Johns.
