Eric D. Ballard Jr, 25, formerly of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at his home in Indianapolis.
A Celebration of Home Going will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 9, 2016 at New Bethel Baptist Church, 2272 Townline Rd, Benton Harbor, with Rev. Maurice McAfee officiating. Burial to follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M until the time of service at the church. Eric was born July 7, 1991 in St. Joseph, MI to Eric Ballard & Fawnette Scott. He was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School in 2009. Eric worked with his father at Harold Ballard’s Sewer cleaning company prior to moving to Indianapolis. He enjoyed listening to music, playing video games and spending time with the love of his life, Nakiya Futrell as well as his many friends and family. Eric will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter Nahla Ballard; son Eric Ballard III; father Eric (Lashon) Ballard of Benton Harbor; mother Fawnette Scott of Benton Harbor; brothers Korey Ballard, Javione Ballard, Demond Williams and Darius Williams all of Benton Harbor, sisters Jade Phillips and Kati McGriff both of Benton Harbor; step-sister Nakiara Williams of Benton Harbor; great-grandmothers Ethel Amos of Atlanta and Lucille Booker of Benton Harbor; grandparents Patricia Ballard of Hartford, Joyce Booker of Benton Harbor and Cecil Scott of Benton Harbor; nieces and nephews Korey Ballard Jr., Kyndel Ballard, Nautica Joseph, and Vamarri Joseph; uncles Mark (Leann) Ballard, Carlos Johnson, Timothy Williams; aunts Linda (Darren) Clark and Kinata Scott; special cousins Edward Lauderdale, Brandon Booker, Justin Griffin, Erick Simmons, Jaziminique Watson and Brett Clark; cousins Olie Griffin, DeAndre Lynch, Ashely Clark, Tyra Scott and Deja Scott; special friends Siobhan White and Tyrese Bennett and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Harold Ballard and step-brother DeVante “Tae” Fisher on November 28, 2015.
