Barbara K. Globensky

Barbara K. Globensky, of St. Joseph, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:00 A.M., on Monday, December 19, 2016, at First Congregational Church, 2001 Niles Ave., St. Joseph, with Rev. Dr.  Robert Braman officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra or First Church of Christ, Scientist, Benton Harbor. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Barb was born in Evanston, Illinois to Robert and Pauline Farrell. She earned both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education from the University of Illinois and was a life-long Illini fan.  She and her first husband, Ross Latham, Jr., were married in 1961 and lived in Adrian, Michigan for the next 20 years, where Ross was a professor of Chemistry at Adrian College and Barb was a substitute teacher for the Adrian Public Schools. In 1984, Barb married John L. Globensky. At that time, John was a partner at the law firm of Globensky, Gleiss, Bittner and Hyrns. Throughout their 21 years of marriage, they took over 150 major trips, including being in Tiananmen Square on the night of the 1989 uprising. Barb has been active in the community as a member of the Board of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, serving as president for 16 years, as well as the Boards of the Economic Club, Monday Musical Club, and Child and Family Services of Southwestern Michigan.  She loved to travel, play bridge, golf, bowl, cheer on the Tigers, and spend time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (David) Timoner and Anne (Joe) Caliento; step-daughter, Janet (Mark) Zielke and step-son, Jack (Ashley) Holton; grandchildren, Reed and Grayson Timoner, and Sofia Caliento; step-grandchildren, Mark and Elizabeth Zielke, Ian and Emery Holton, and August and Marley Frank; and close friend, Gretchen Rock.
