William Sprunk

William Andrew Sprunk Jr., 75, of Stevensville, MI passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at his home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran School in St. Joseph. Those wishing to share a memory of William online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com William was born February 17, 1941 in Toledo, OH to William and Dorothy (Erskine) Sprunk, Sr. William graduated from St. Charles High School in Columbus, Xavier, Ohio U and Kent State Universities in OH. William was an English professor at Nazareth College in Kalamazoo for 19 years. He spent the next 26 years at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor where he was Chairman of the English Department and Director of the Honors Program. William also served on the Board of Education at Trinity Lutheran School until the time of his death. On March 4, 1995 he married Alice Snyder in Coloma, MI. He was a coach and manager for his granddaughter, Audra’s softball team for the last five years. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, and working in the yard. William is survived by his wife Alice Sprunk; children William (Connie) Sprunk of Cincinnati, OH, Kathryn (Chris) Burns of Berrien Springs and Michael Sprunk of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Autumn Sprunk, William Sprunk, Jr., Joseph Donnellan, Nicholas Donnellan and Audra Cuchinski; step-children Claudette Cuchinski of Berrien Springs and Cassanra Snyder of Washington State; a very special friend Melissa Stolfo; and many nieces and nephews (the Erskines). William was preceded in death by his parents, sister Christine Bolender, and half-brother James Erskine.
