Charles “Chuck” V. Leiser, 91, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph, MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:30 P.M. Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Fr. Thomas McNally officiating. Friends may visit from 1:30 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory of Charles online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  Charles was born August 18, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Charles & Mary (Weidner) Leiser. Charles served his country in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946. He was a firefighter for over 20 years with Schiller Park Fire Department becoming their first Fire Chief. Charles married Jessie (Anderson) Leiser on March 31, 1990 in Florida. Together they lived in All Seasons Resort in Clermont, FL for over 22 years. Chuck and Jessie enjoyed golfing, square dancing, traveling and taking cruises.  He was also a member and an usher at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Clermont, FL. Chuck was also an avid Cubs and Bears fan.   Charles is survived by his wife, Jessie; daughter Nadine (Frank) Czernek; son Charles (Jan) Leiser; step-children Thomas (Eve) Anderson, Roger (Debbie) Anderson, Jack Anderson, Judy (Tom) VanDarAue, Susan Jensen and William (Judy) Anderson; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister Matilda Stuart; and special friends Mike and Anne Martin and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Olga; and sister Theresa Schrantz. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Caretel and Hospice at Home.
