Martha Alma (Strefling) Spitzer, 98, of Stevensville, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville, with Rev. Jonathan Kruschel officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. Friday until 11:00 A.M. at the Church. Martha was born May 1, 1918 in Galien, Michigan to Christian & Paulina (Ertman) Strefling. She was baptized, confirmed and married to Adolph Spitzer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sawyer. After her marriage, she moved to Stevensville & joined St. Paul’s Lutheran where she sang in the choir, joined the dart club & Ladies Aid. Martha was a farmer all of her life & a devoted member of her church, reading the Bible along with daily devotions.
Martha is survived by her children-Gladys (Gary) House of Baroda, Karl (Elaine) Spitzer of Buchanan; five grandsons-Michael, David & Joseph Wharton, Karl & Kenneth Spitzer; great-grandchildren-Gregory, Jennifer, Nicole, April & Rebecca Wharton, Kaleigh, Kelby & Madison Spitzer; great-great grandchildren- Mia, Delano & Arianna Ferrer & Raylan White; her sister Violet Strefling Hartline; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Adolph, grandson Steven, sisters Ida Kugler, Dorothy Maerz, Clara Horak, brothers-Ben, Paul, Reinhart, Ernest, Walter & Edward Strefling.
