Douglas Albert Hoyh, 69, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 after a
short battle with cancer. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Homes 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph MI 49085.
Douglas was born August 3, 1946 in Benton Harbor, MI to the late Albert and Martha (Dahlke) Hoyh. He served his country in the United States Army. He went on to work for a short time at Whirlpool before getting married to his wife Julie Ann Thumm on July 5, 1969 in St. Joseph, MI. Douglas graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theology from North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN. He went on to Pastor and Minister in several locations. Interning first at Bethel Assembly in Minneapolis, MN then to Medina, ND followed by Assisting the Pastor in Michigan City, IN then to Springhill, LA and for the past ten years was pastor of Senior Adults at the Blue Roof Church which he had a special love for.
Douglas is survived by his wife Julie; his children Lori (Greg) Nasstrom of Niles, MI, Stephen (Bartress) Hoyh and Matthew Hoyh both of St. Joseph, MI; grandchildren Gerik, Andrew and Nicholas Nasstrom; brother Richard (Shelia) Hoyh of Stevensville, MI; and a special niece Suzanne Schultz and several other nieces and nephews. He is preceded by a brother Melvin and Charlotte Hoyh and a brother-in-law Larry Muck.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Blue Roof Church, 3084 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Dan Miller officiating. Burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma, MI. Visitation is on Wednesday March 2nd from 5:00 till 7:00 PM at the Blue Roof Church. Military rites will be conducted by the Stevensville American Legion Post # 568. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home. Douglas was proud of his children and grandchildren especially that they are serving the Lord faithfully. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
