Stephen H. Smith, 66, of Benton Harbor passed away Monday December 21, 2015 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, officiated by Pastor Brian S. Rumer. Military rites will be conducted following the service by North Berrien Military Rites Team; burial will be on Wednesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Steve was born on October 18, 1949 to John & Shirley Smith in St. Joseph Michigan. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1968 and attended Lake Michigan College. He enlisted to serve our Country in the United States Navy during Vietnam.
During his life he was a builder, instructor for the NRA and worked at Lakeland Hospital. He enjoyed traveling, shooting his crossbow and guns; but his loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Nicole; two sons, Jason Smith and Josh (Katie) Smith and a daughter Amber (Michael) Becker; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Kathryn (Larry) Peterson, Laura Wright, Lynn (Steven) Taylor; his mother Shirley Smith and mother–in-law Erica Hell.
Preceded in death by his father John and his first wife Jo Smith in 2007.
