Steve Solomon, Jr., 86, of Stevensville, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd in Stevensville, MI officiated by Pastor Jonathan P. Kruschel. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit with the family from 5 PM until 7 PM Monday, December 28, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2659 Niles Rd in St Joseph. Steve was born January 28, 1929 in Universal, Indiana to Steve & Amelia (Herstic) Solomon. He attended Arsenal Tech High School in Indiana and Northwest School of Broadcasting in Illinois. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Steve worked at various broadcasting stations across Michigan, Ohio and Indiana and was best known for his morning show on WASK in Lafayette, IN, “The Steve Trent Show”. He retired from AM General in South Bend, IN after 14 years of service. He regularly attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville, MI. Steve was an avid bicyclist and history buff who also enjoyed working in his yard and bird watching.
Steve is survived by his wife, Erika Solomon; daughter, Melissa Kleitz of La Porte, IN; stepchildren, Heidi (Chris) DuBach of Gurnee, IL, Lisa (Bruce) Martin of Wolverine Lake, MI, Tanya (Eric) Jorgensen of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Kleitz) Jobin, Danielle, Nicholas, Chelsea, Kendra, Bruce III and Connor; his sister Rose Mandich of South Bend, IN; as well as many nieces and nephews including Milan Medich of South Bend, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joe Solomon; and sister, Mildred Medich.
