Wesley Edgar Arent

Wesley E. Arent, 80, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Coloma passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 27, 2015 at home with his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 30, 2015 at St. Joseph First United Methodist Church, 2950 Lakeview Ave., with Rev. Harris Hoekwater officiating. Burial will follow at Coloma Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services in St. Joseph. Wesley was born May 7, 1935 in Bainbridge to Samuel and Dorothy (Powell) Arent. He graduated from Coloma High School in 1953 and was part of the United States Navy Reserve until 1965. Wesley went on to earn a Master’s Degree and Specialist’s Degree from Wayne State University. He married the love of his life, Lois Kilmark, on May 12, 1956 at Coloma United Methodist Church. Wesley was employed as a teacher and Vocational Director for over three decades working at Coloma Community Schools and Allegan County Intermediate School District.  He coached multiple sports at Coloma High School, including coaching varsity golf for 27 years. Wesley was an active member of St. Joseph First United Methodist Church and the St. Joseph Benton Harbor Elks Club # 541. Wesley is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois; children, Angie (Warren “Bud”) Arent-Seabury of Coloma and Tom (Kelly) Arent of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Logan Arent, Wayne Seabury, Makenzie Arent, Sophia Arent and Wesley Seabury; siblings, Norris (Margaret) Arent of St. Joseph and Noreen Sonnenberg of St. Joseph; several sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Noble Arent, Norman Arent, Tilferd Arent, Carl Arent and Marilyn Arent.
