Linda Godke, 84, of Lenexa, Kansas, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away October 5, 2015 of cancer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 2001 Niles Ave., St. Joseph, at 2 PM on Friday, October 9, 2015. Immediately following the service, refreshments will be provided at the church. Followed by a burial at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 1:30 PM until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lory’s Place, 445 Upton Drive, St. Joseph. Linda was born in Peoria, Illinois on March 16, 1931. She graduated from Peoria Central High School, and continued at Bradley University where she received her bachelor’s degree. Linda taught elementary school for several years prior to starting her family.
Linda was involved in many charitable organizations throughout Berrien County for many years. These included the Junior League, Organ Donation Charities, Questers Antique Club, Lory’s Place, Girl Scouts and the First Congregational Church.
Linda is survived by her husband, Daryl Godke, of Lenexa, Kansas; her brother, Hank Taylor, of Grand Junction, Colorado; her son, Bruce, daughter-in-law, Heidi, and granddaughters, Rebekah and Sarah Godke all of Shawnee, Kansas; her grandson, Christopher Johnson and son-in-law, Michael Johnson both of Lenoir City, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Susan Johnson.
