Ed's Obituary

Ed Barlow, Jr., 68, of St. Joseph, passed away, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 A.M. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph.  Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Liturgical Prayers recited at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday.  Memorial donations may be made to the Twin Cities Area Catholic School Fund or the American Red Cross.  Those wishing to sign Ed’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Ed was born May 4, 1947 in Benton Harbor to Edward D. Sr. & Yvonne (McGrane) Barlow.  He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School, Loras College and the University of Notre Dame.  On July 26, 1975, he married Linda Harder in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ed started his career in Education, teaching Spanish and coaching the Debate and the Golf Teams at Campion Jesuit Prep in WI.  Throughout his career, he was focused on creating a better world for the children of the World.  He started his own company, Creating the Future, Inc.  in 1983.  He was a visionary who was asked to speak in every State in the Union, and many countries on several continents.  His mission was to help individuals and organizations anticipate and plan for the 21st Century.  In  his spare time Ed was either raising money for some not-for profit organization, on the  golf course at Berrien Hills, or playing tennis with his family. Ed is survived by his wife Linda; his children-Carrie Barlow & Timothy (Beth) Barlow both of San Francisco; three sisters-Kay Barlow-Segrave of St. Joseph, Mary Beth (Joe) Marsala of Beverly Farms, MA, Anne Barlow; his brother Rick Barlow of St. Joseph; brother & sister-in laws-Doug (Carol) Harder of Germantown, WI, Judy Gronski of San Rafael, CA; nieces & nephews-Emily (Andrew) Cheff, Alan (Nichole) Segrave, Maggie Segrave, Clint (Linda) Sarder, Dana (Scott) Coulthurst, Cynthia (Brian) Adam,  Chloe Marsala, Peter Marsala, David & Sarah Gronski.  He was preceded in death by his mother Yvonne in 2011 and his brother-in-law Jeff Segrave in 1998.
