Jeff Briney

Jeff Briney, 57, of St. Joseph, passed away, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 17 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Paul Briney officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph.  Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Jeff was born August 23, 1957 in Watervliet to Harry & Grace (Coffey) Briney.  As a youth he was a member of the Blossomland Drum & Bugle Corp. which his father directed. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1975 and attended Lake Michigan College.  On June 28, 1980 he married the former Carol Barrie in Benton Harbor.  Jeff was formerly employed at Avion Coach in Benton Harbor and Hughes Plastics in St. Joseph.   Jeff enjoyed working on his 1950 Chevy truck, which he named “Bessie”.  In his free time he also enjoyed fishing, collecting old tools, attending the Michigan Flywheeler shows and his Sons of American Legion membership at Post #105 in Benton Harbor. Jeff is survived by his wife Carol; his children-Paul (Christa) Briney of Charlotte, NC, Michael Jeffrey Briney of St. Joseph, Sierra Lynn Briney of Wilmington, NC; three grandsons-Jerimiah, James & Joseph Briney; his brother Patrick (Therese) Briney of Prattville, AL; three sisters-in-law-Jeannie Briney of Benton Harbor, Sue (Tino) Figueroa of Miami, FL, Ann (Robert) Russell of Muskegon; and several beloved nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, & his brother Michael J. Briney on July 17, 2013.
