Erick George Olofsson

George Erick Olofsson, 77, of St. Joseph, MI passed away December 3, 2014 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:30 pm, Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Road to Life Church, 3800 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, with Pastor Mike Schoeplein officiating. Erick was born March 1, 1937 in Mendota, Illinois to Andreas Gustav Olofsson and Elsie Linnea (Tarnroos) Olofsson.  He married Miriam Annabelle (Poly) Olofsson, on January 16, 1960 in Chicago, IL.  Erick had a long career as a Traffic Manager for International Harvester / Navister for over 30 years, and also worked at Vangard and Acme Steel.  He served in the Illinois National Guard and was an active member of the Road to Life Church, Ben Jo Investment Club and Wednesday Morning Men’s Ministry.  He also served as President of Rosemary Beach Association.  In addition to being an avid genealogist, he employed his carpentry skills to build two homes for his family.  Most of all he enjoyed using his sense of humor to make people laugh. Erick is survived by his loving wife, Miriam, son Scott Andrew (Maureen) Olofsson of Glen Ellyn, IL, granddaughters Linnea Miriam and Melissa Mae Olofsson both of Illinois, brother Harold (Sheila) Olofsson of Chicago, IL, sister Mary Ann Olofsson of California and many nieces and nephews.  Erick was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Miriam Olofsson, brother Joel Olofsson, sisters Marguerite Shaffrick, Ruth Kuchis, Esther Reed, Doris Lindberg and his parents.
