Janet Hauch

Janet Hauch, 84, of Stevensville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Countryside Nursing Home in South Haven after having suffered from Alzheimer’s disease in recent years. A private burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Those wishing to share a memory of Janet online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Janet was born May 16, 1930 in South Bend, IN to Louis & Ruby (Curran) Beck. She grew up in Niles, MI until she was united in marriage to Eric Hauch on May 6, 1950.  Janet loved to paint, garden, cross-stitch, knit, and quilt, but her greatest love was being with her family and grandchildren.  Nothing made her more happy than to have her children close by.  She was a much loved resident at Countryside for her good nature and perpetual smile.  It wasn’t uncommon to find cards, stuffed animals or other trinkets in her room left by her caregivers. Left to treasure her memory are children Mike (Lidy) Hauch of Florence, AZ, Rick Hauch of Riverside, Cathy Okay of Niles, Randy (Ann) Hauch of Coloma, Steven Hauch of Watervliet, and Theresa (Bob) Frank of Watervliet; eleven grandchildren Dana Hauch of Coloma, Michelle (Nathan) Miller of OH, Christine (Rob) Kilner of IL, Erich Hauch of Berrien Springs, Joey Hauch of Riverside, David (Cassie) Head of Niles, Melissa Crouch of VA, Shanna (Fred) Wilcox of Kalamazoo, Dakota (Brianne) Okay of Niles, Christopher Frank of St. Joseph, and Curtis Frank of Ft. Campbell, KY; four great-grandchildren Maddison and Evelyn Crouch, Claire Miller and Abigail Kilner. She is also survived by her much loved brother and sister-in-law Dan and Carol Hauch of Benton Harbor and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Eric in 2010, son Gary in 2005, and siblings Judy Beck, Dorothy Crocker, Maryann Wright, Julane White and Raymond Beck.
