James P. Costigan

James P. “Jim” Costigan, 77, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his home.  Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel-St. Joseph.  Memorial donations may be made to The Area Agency on Aging or Hospice at Home.  Those wishing to sign Jim’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Jim was born January 12, 1937 in Orangeville, Ohio to Paul & Hazel (Gilliland) Costigan.  He served his country in the National Guard.  On June 2, 1962 he married the former Rosella Kopec.  She preceded on July 3, 1986.   On January 17, 1987, he married the former Beverly Lugers Kettlehut.  Jim was employed at Heath Company in St. Joseph as an engineer, retiring after 25 years of employment.  He loved music and enjoyed listening to Ivan Parker & The Gaithers, and was active in the Fruitbelt Barber Shoppers.  Jim also enjoyed classic cars, reading, traveling and especially the time spent with his family.  Jim is survived by his wife Beverly; his children-Joseph (Kara Kerkemeyer) Costigan of St. Joseph, Robert Kettlehut of Benton Harbor, Suzanne Harknett of South Bend, IN, Donna (Doug) Harrell of Ocklanaha, FL, Dawn Noorman of Holland, MI, Jennifer Perry of Benton Harbor; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three special caregivers including Lori Bush who was with him for six years.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose, and his sister Ruth Peterson.
