Lavetta Kull, 88, of St. Joseph, MI passed away July 23, 2014 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday, July 28, 2014 at Scottdale United Methodist Church, 4271 Scottdale Rd., St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Scottdale United Methodist Church, Hospice at Home, Hanson Hospice Center or Ardmore United Methodist Church, 26621 Main St., Ardmore, TN 38449. An additional Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Ardmore United Methodist Church, 26621 Main St., Ardmore, TN 38449. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Ardmore United Methodist Church.
Lavetta was born February 27, 1926, in the Wayside Community of Fayette County, AL to Sam and Etma (White) Webster. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1944 and Florence State Teacher’s College in 1951. She married Lloyd Kull on March 25, 1948 and they lived in Chattanooga, TN; Huntsville, AL; and Ardmore, AL. She taught school at Davis Hills School in Huntsville for 24 years, retiring in 1986 to spend more time visiting family and working on her hobbies: needle work, crafts, and reading. Lavetta was listed in the 1968-69 edition of Who’s Who in Alabama and the 1970 edition of Personalities of the South. She was active in the various churches she was a member of, including Ardmore and Scottdale United Methodist churches.
Lavetta is survived by 3 children: Max (Donna) Kull of Weaverville, NC, Martha Kull (Maurie Ommerman) of Austin, TX, and Cindy (Bob) Larson of St. Joseph, MI; 7 grandchildren: Virginia (Ryan) Young of Brooklyn, NY, Stephen (Angela) Kull of Charleston, IL, Gretchen Tiffany of St. Joseph, MI, Heidi Larson of Colorado Springs, CO, Larin McDuffie of Atlanta, GA, Ron Ommerman of Bloomington, MN, and Rachel Ommerman (Josh Tucker) of Overland Park, KS; 7 great grandchildren: Natalie Kirkdorfer, Max & Ellie Kull, Katie & Will Tiffany, and Sam & Lily Tucker; 2 sisters: Jean Ryan of Cullman, AL, and Bonnie (Dick) Acker of Dothan, AL; 3 brothers: W. B. Webster of Decatur, AL, Lex Webster of Florence, AL, and Donald (Martha) Webster of Winfield, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
Lavetta is preceded in death by husband, Lloyd Kull; parents; sister, Elaine Webster; brother, James Webster; 3 sisters-in-law, Jo Webster, Christine Webster, and Robbie Webster; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Ryan.
