Sue Ann McDonald

Sue Ann McDonald, 72, of Berrien Springs, passed away, Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:00 A.M.  Saturday, July 12, 2014 Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Indiana.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 11 at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes or First Church of God.  Those wishing to sign Sue’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchigner.com.  Sue was born September 22, 1941 to Harold & Marceil (Eshelman) Whybrew.  She graduated from Elkhart High School, received her teaching degree from Manchester University and her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University.  God, Sewing and Children were Sue’s greatest passion in life.  God saved her from Polio as a little girl leaving her unable to have children of her own so she adopted Brent and Marcy.  She taught elementary and preschool for almost 50 years and she was instrumental raising her children, granddaughters and great grandchildren.  She worshiped, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and more at First Church of God in St Joseph over the past 47 years.  Sue is survived by her son Brent (Elizabeth) McDonald of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughter Marcy Soderberg of Berrien Springs; her grandchildren-Shawna Burgess, Nicole Lyons, Dusty Soderberg, Jordan McDonald & Noah McDonald; and her great-grandchildren-Kaiylen Burgess, Oliver Lyons & Gavin Burgess; her sister Jacqueline Ravenscroft of Elkhart, IN; her brother Larry (Ottlie) Whybrew; five nieces & nephews; and friends too numerous to mention.  Sue was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband J. Bradley McDonald who passed on November 17th, 1987.  They are reunited in heaven.
