Susan's Obituary

Susan E. Tole, 62, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of Stevensville, passed away, Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Gordon Barry officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne or the Multiple Sclerosis Association. Those wishing to sign Susan’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Susan was born October 30, 1951 in St. Joseph, Michigan to James & Dorothy (Swink) Thompson. She attended Lakeshore High School, class of 1969. On October 4, 1975, she married William Tole in Benton Harbor. Susan was a full time wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling the drag racing circuit with her husband in which he participated, talking with her family and friends on the phone, and collecting Christmas Bears. Even though she had health issues for many years, Susan enjoyed life, always had a positive attitude and served as an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. Susan is survived by her husband William; her daughter Faye Werling of Ossian, Indiana; her grandchildren-Kaelin Brock, Mason & Carson Werling; her siblings-Patricia Thompson of Long Beach, CA, J.T. (Myra) Thompson & Bill Thompson both of Stevensville, Sandy (Bruce) Gerlach of Baroda; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Danny Thompson in 1973.
