Robert Harold Camp

Robert H. Camp, 76, formerly of St. Joseph, MI passed away peacefully Saturday, December 21 at his home in Coldwater, MI with his family by his side. Bob was born January 24, 1937 in Hicksville, OH to Harold & June(Scott) Camp. He was a graduate of Hicksville High School in 1955 where he was a three year starter on the football team. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Jody Keesberry, on August 8, 1957. They moved to Chicago where Bob completed school as an xray technician. He began a career in medical sales and formed many long lasting friendships. Seeking a change and a challenge, Bob and Jody bought a motel and restaurant in St. Joseph, MI in 1972 called the Royal Motel and Restaurant. Bob & Jody soon renamed it the Mark lll Restaurant, which is still owned and operated by his family. Bob had many interests and hobbies that kept him busy on his free time. He was an avid car enthusiast, his favorite being his first car, a 1951 Hudson Hornet. Another passion of Bob’s was his love for vintage stereo equipment. He had a gift when it came to finding high-end stereo equipment, and the adventure was sometimes better than the find. Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his home on Coldwater Lake. He entertained everyone with his numerous stories that only he could tell with such charisma. We will all cherish our memories of Bob as they will always make us smile. He was a generous and caring man who thoroughly enjoyed life and will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Friends and family may visit from 12:00-3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 5, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mark lll Restaurant immediately following the service. Robert is survived by his sons David(Debbie)Camp of Stevensville; Bob(Stacy)Camp of St. Joseph; daughter Linda(Stephen) Frappier of St. Joseph; and Jeannine(Tim)Van Liere of Kalamazoo; Girlfriend of 12 years, Sue Hasse; Grandchildren Christina, Jennifer, Kyle, Ryan, D.J., and Brittaney; great grandchildren Ellissa, Daniel, Jillian, Marin and Gracelynn,; sisters Judy(Bob)Davis of Ft. Wayne; Marilyn(Bob)Chewning of Ft. Myers; brother Phillip(Sherrie)Camp of Central Pointe, OR; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Jody on February 16, 1999 and son Michael Camp on May 28, 2013 and brother Richard Camp.
