Michael Ferris

Michael Ferris, 68, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Fr. William Jacobs Jr. officiating. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Michael was born October 3, 1945 in South Haven, MI to Joseph & Kamoa Ferris. He graduated from Lakeshore High School. Michael then attended classes at Lake Michigan College before being drafted into the U.S. Marine Corp. He served from 1966 until 1968 as a Field Radio Operator / Communications. Michael was the owner of Ferris Music Center in Benton Harbor for over 50 years. In his spare time he enjoyed sailing, music, traveling, and spending time with his family. Michael is survived by his mother Kamoa Ferris; children Kimberly Ferris of Chicago, IL, Michelle George of Pelham, NH, Michael Ferris of Vienna, Austria and Nicole Ferris of Santa Monica, CA; two grandchildren Aidan George and Sabastian Ferris. Michael was preceded in death by his father Joseph Ferris.
