Ruth's Obituary

Ruth Elizabeth Eichler Klug Bomke, our loving mother and grandmother passed away in Ludington, Michigan on October 10, 2013. She was born to Friedrich & Amalie Eichler on February 2, 1925 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, where she married Leonard Klug in 1946. They spent 43 years raising their children and farming peaches and cherries, until his death in 1989. She is survived by her children: Katherine (Brent) Robke of New York City, Leonard Klug of Custer, MI, Donald (Deborah) Klug of Walton Hills, Ohio, James (Joanne) Klug of Dewitt, MI, and Patricia (Ronald) Buckholtz of Ludington, MI, and grandchildren Elizabeth, Fritz, Jocelyn, Christie, Kelsey, and Evan. In retirement, she became reacquainted with an old family friend, John Bomke. They married in 1992 and spent 19 years together until his death in 2011. She shared many happy times with John’s family, Diane (Jerry) Yops, Mel (Grisselle) Bomke, and Don (Janet) Bomke and their children and grandchildren, traveling, camping, and wintering in Florida. Ruth was a lifelong Lutheran, and was most recently a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville. Visitation is Tuesday, October 15 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2673 West John Beers Road, Stevensville, Michigan. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran or The American Cancer Society. The family appreciated Ruth’s caregivers at Caretel Inns of Lakeland, Ludington Woods and Hospice of Michigan.
