Elsie K. Myers, 84, formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Elsie was born September 6, 1928 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Werner and Agda (Ojajarvi) Keskinen. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Murray State College in Murray, Kentucky. Elsie was a naturally gifted soprano. On December 19, 1952, she married William H. Myers in Murray. She was employed as the receptionist at First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Wayne from 1989 until 2006. Elsie was a member of the church where she served as a deacon and shared her talent as a member of the choir for many years. Elsie dedicated her life to her family. She raised two sons and enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up. For the last two years Elsie resided at Whitcomb Towers Retirement Community near her son Verne in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Elsie is survived by her sons William H. (Gretchen) Myers, Jr. of Doylestown, PA and Verne (Carole Stanley-Myers) Myers of St. Joseph; and six grandchildren: Scott, Amy, Julie, Eric, Lauren and Keith; and her sisters Aina Rappold of Springhill, FL, and Esther Bly of Conneaut, OH. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Bill on May 13, 1988.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 15, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
