Ethel's Obituary

Ethel M. Gildersleeve, 79, of Stevensville, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Willows Assisted Living in St. Joseph. A Celebration on Life Service will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory of Ethel may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. Ethel was born October 27, 1933 in Tamaqueh, PA to Mr. & Mrs. Frey. In December 1956 she married James W. Gildersleeve in Gary, IN. Ethel worked as a payroll and benefits officer for Montgomery Wards where she later retired. Ethel was an avid reader who also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially around Christmas and will be remembered for her wonderful pancakes and biscuits and gravy. She is survived by her daughter Judy (Randy) Locatis of Berrien Springs, MI, sons Walter (Linda) Edwards of Scottsdale, AZ, William (Nagonda) Gildersleeve of Cynthiana, KY and James (Tina) Gildersleeve of Mesa, AZ, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, sister Nancy and brother William. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband James on June 23, 1999.
