Frances's Obituary
God’s faithful servant, Frances Rose Herzog, 88, was welcomed into her heavenly home on Saturday, March 9, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Benton Harbor on October 19, 1924 to George & Zora (Hosbein) Gaunder, Sr. She married Paul Herzog, Jr. at St. John’s in Benton Harbor in 1945 and together they raised 8 children. The only thing more important to her than her family was the Catholic faith that was engraved upon her heart.
Frances is survived by her children: Paul Herzog, Pam Herzog, special “daughter” Sara Reinking , Pala (Tom) Liske, Joseph (Jill) Herzog, Terese (Michael Blankenbaker) Gleiss, Mari (Bob) Moore, and Michael Herzog; grandchildren: William (Cathy) Porter, Jr., Jason (Briana) Porter, Paul Porter, sons of Pala, Stephanie (Tom) Rugg, Sara (Chris) Hamlin, Jamie, Hayley, Madi, Micah and Tia Herzog, children of Joseph, Allison and Hank, children of Terese, Kelsey, Katelynn, Rachel, and Erin, daughters of Mari, Lauren, Alexis, and Carson, children of Michael; great grandchildren: Audrey, daughter of William, Owen, son of Jason, Colin, Avery, and Savannah, children of Stephanie, and Nora, daughter of Sara; siblings George Gaunder, Jr., Mary Jean O’Brien, Joseph Gaunder, Ann (John) Vogelsang, Kathryn Lee, and Mike Gaunder; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Philip, sister Alice Ferris, & brother James Gaunder.
In keeping with Fran’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 16 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 600 Columbus, Benton Harbor, preceded by the Rosary at 10:30 A.M.
