Betty's Obituary

Betty L. Zoschke, 84, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Rd Stevensville, with Pastor Gordy Berry officiating. Visitation will be held 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Heifer International, UMCOR or donor’s choice. Those wishing to share a memory of Betty may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. Betty was born April 8, 1929, in Benton Harbor to August and Lora (Thumm) Schneider. After graduating from Benton Harbor High School in 1947 she attended Western Michigan University receiving her Bachelor’s in education in 1951. Betty then went on to teach preschool in the Benton Harbor Area Schools for 23 years. On July 2, 1951 she married Milton Hatheway Zoschke in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was member of many groups over the years some of which included The Monday Musical Choir, Ossoli, Child and Family Services Auxilary, and the Peace Temple United Methodist Church. Betty sang in the church choirs for over 65 years, loved playing bridge, camping with her family and traveling all over. She enjoyed her grandkids and getting people together and entertaining. She loved to read and garden in her spare time. Betty is survived by her husband, Milton Zoschke; children Steven (Sherry) Zoschke of Globe, AZ, Bruce (Magda) Zoschke of St. Joseph, Paul Zoschke of Stevensville, and Jean Ann (Gary) Szczypka of Bangor; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lawrence Schneider of Benton Harbor, Donald Schneider of St. Joseph, Duane Schneider of Benton Harbor, Robert Schneider of Benton Harbor and Kenneth Schneider of Eau Claire.
