Gottlieb “Jim” Thierbach, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at St. Joseph First United Methodist Church, 2950 Lakeview Ave. St. Joseph with Pastor Harris Hoekwater officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home or St. Joseph First United Methodist Church. Those wishing to share a memory of Jim online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Jim was born July 27, 1923 in Baroda, MI to Ferdinand & Anna (Pfieffer) Thierbach. Jim served his country in the United States Army. On February 6, 1943 he married Marguerite Hermann in Baroda, MI. Jim worked for Whirlpool for many years. Jim was a member of the Stevensville American Legion and was an active member of the St. Joseph First United Methodist Church. He loved carpentry work and was always willing to help anyone. Jim was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan, but most of all was a loyal, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend.
Jim is survived by his wife Marguerite Theirbach of 70 years of marriage of St. Joseph; daughter Debra (Michael) Whitt of Stevensville; son James (Caryn) Thierbach of Mason, OH; seven grandchildren Eric Thierbach, Jason (Christy) Thierbach, Amy (Aaron) Wood, Adam (Stacy) Whitt, Alyssa (Tim) Judkins, Allison (Georg) Theiner and Priscilla Richards; five great grandchildren Alex, Elena, Christopher, Hattie, and Darin; brothers David, Alex, Fred Thierbach; and sisters Elizabeth Knapp and Christine Rousch. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, great grandson Aidan Wood, sister Emily Nowlen; brothers Bill, Reinhold, and Paul Thierbach.
