Glenn's Obituary

Glenn Holubar, age 69, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota after a long battle with Carcinoid Syndrome, a rare form of Neuroendocrine cancer. Glenn was born on November 1, 1943, in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Elbert and L. Mary Holubar. From the time he could walk, Glenn excelled at all things sports-related. His passion for athletics and skill on the field earned him a full football scholarship to Indiana University where he became a proud member of the “I” Men’s Association. Following college graduation, Glenn served as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, including a tour in Vietnam. Upon return, he achieved his MBA from Indiana University. Glenn then began a career with Whirlpool Corporation, where he worked until retirement in 1999. Glenn’s early retirement allowed him to cheer on the Indiana Hoosiers and the Green Bay Packers, and time to perfect his golf game….almost. Glenn was a loyal friend, loving husband, devoted father and doting grandfather. He was a good man who treated others with kindness, always acted with integrity and took joy in the simple, everyday moments of life. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 44 years Marlene Holubar, his sons and daughters-in-law Brian (Mona), Brad (Lisa), and Bart (Angi), his nine rambunctious grandchildren Avery, Ajay, Brody, Brevin, Lucas, Zack, Brady, Bailey and Brooke. He is also survived by his brother Mark (Karalee) and his sister Judy Gallistel (Lorin), mother-in-law Dorothy Bettine, sisters-in-law, Jan Ziebell and Louann (Rod) Czerwonka and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his elder sister Mary Jo Allred. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by many. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph. A Mass celebrating Glenn’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the First Tee of Benton Harbor, 201 Graham Ave., Benton Harbor, Michigan 49022.
