Virgil's Obituary

Virgil Henry McClure Jr., 64, of Stevensville passed away on Friday September 7, 2012, at his home. A Celebration of life Service will be held at North Shore Memory Gardens on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 11:00 A.M., with military rites conducted by Stevensville American Legion. Virgil was born on September 21, 1947 in Benton Harbor to Virgil “Dick” Sr. & Mary Jane (Broderick) McClure. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1967. Virgil served our country in the United States Army as a Military Policeman in Vietnam and was a member of Stevensville American Legion. He married Gerry McDannell on May 17, 2003 in St. Joseph. Virgil worked at Michigan Fruit Canners as a supervisor for 25 years as well as other fruit packing companies until retiring in 2008. He is survived by his wife Gerry of Stevensville; a daughter, Shannan (Roger) Whitaker of Benton Harbor; son, Scott McClure of Riverside; step-daughter, Tammy (Robert) Oakley of Stevensville; three special grandsons, Dale Oakley, Lucian and Layne Whitaker; sisters, Jayne (Ron) Johannesen and Charlene (Ciro) Farina; nieces and nephews, Sean (Julie) Fitzgerald, Magen (Jules) Dourght, Cristy Lindemann, Tony Farina, Nicholas (Amy) McClure, Holly (David) Martin; special little niece, Sara McClure; new nephew, Ryan McClure; and sisters-in-law, Dawn McDannell and Teresa (Russell) Molnar . Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James (Sandra) McClure; and niece, Heather McClure.
