Erika's Obituary
Erika Muñoz, beloved daughter, niece and aunt, fiercely loyal friend, colleague and child of God was carried into her peaceful heavenly rest in the arms of God’s angels, and in the presence of many who loved her and whom she loved, on May 12, 2012. Erika was born on September 15, 1967, in Bogota, Colombia, and studied nursing in the United States where she became a registered nurse and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bethel College.
She completed her American citizenship process with great pride and was waiting for her oath ceremony at the time of her passing. She loved her work as a critical care nurse at Lakeland Regional Hospital in St. Joseph, and she felt especially privileged to pray with her patients when she was given the opportunity. She loved and trusted Jesus for forgiveness and white robes of righteousness.
She leaves to join her later in glory her mother, Deborah Pratt, the Pratt family, her family of origin in Colombia, especially Leonor Vargas de Muñoz and Maria del Pilar Aguirre Muñoz, and many dear friends and colleagues who will miss her deeply. Her treasured companion, Arthur, also survives.
According to Erika’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., in St. Joseph on Wednesday, May 16, with visitation at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:30 a.m. After the service, a luncheon will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, Erika preferred that memorials be made to Neighbor to Neighbor in Berrien Springs or Hospice. Those wishing to share a memory of Erika may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
