Edward John Woodfin Sr., “Big Ed”, 79, of St. Joseph passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at The Willows.
A Requiem Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 555 Delaware, in Benton Harbor with Fr. William Jacobs Jr. officiating. Services will conclude at the church. Friends may visit from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. with a rosary recited at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Edward was born September 10, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Rice Jacobs & Alma (Curiel) Woodfin. He graduated from Father Ryan High School in Nashville, Tennessee and attended Vanderbilt University where he received his bachelor of engineering degree. Edward served his country in the United States Navy. On June 7, 1954 he married Margaret Elizabeth (Miller) Woodfin “Lobby” in Nashville, Tenn. Edward worked for Whirlpool Corporation for 44 years as an engineer and retired in August of 2000.
Edward is survived by his five children Edward John Woodfin Jr. of Albuquerque, NM., Margaret Lisa (Lloyd) Mearing of Paw Paw, James Rice (Annette) Woodfin of Stevensville, Mary Patricia (Jeffrey) Petrillo of Highland, MI., and Kathleen Ann (Christopher) Estkowski of Pullman, MI; sister Beulah M. Woodfin of Albuquerque, NM.; seven grandchildren Ashley, Kelsey, Sarah Jo, Megan Elizabeth, Amelia Elizabeth, Joseph Edward, and Joshua Michael. Edward was preceded in death by his parents and wife Lobby.
