Ella Kurbis-Johnson

Ella Kurbis–Johnson, 92, formally of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 in Port Huron, MI, where she lived for the past five years. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Doug Hoyh officiating. Burial has taken place at North Shore Memory Gardens. Ella was born May 18, 1919 in Biggar, Saskatchewan, Canada to Gottlieb & Matilda (Schroeder) Kurbis. She married Robert Johnson on November 23, 1985, who preceded her in death on May 8, 1990. Ella was a sister to two brothers, Rudolph and Adolph Kurbis and three sisters, Lilly Kruggel, Martha Mathewson and Irene Wesner, all also deceased. Mrs. Johnson retired from Heath Company in St. Joseph, in 1981 after 28 years of service. Ella is survived by sisters-in-laws, Anne Kurbis and JoAnn Kurbis; brother-in-law, Richard Wesner; special aunt, Francis Schroeder; and twelve nieces and nephews.
