Margaret's Obituary

Margaret Ann “Peg” Morse, 70, of Stevensville passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Lakeland Regional Health Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 22, at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Road, Stevensville followed by a reception at the church. A private burial will be held at Hickory Bluff Cemetery the following day. Friends may visit from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 21, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Peg was born July 5, 1941, in Chicago to Vere and Opal (Leach) Lipperd. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1959 and Michigan State University in 1963. Peg was a high school math teacher at Mt. Mercy Academy in Grand Rapids and the Battle Creek and Clawson Public School Systems prior to the birth of her children. After moving to Stevensville in 1977, Peg became active in the local community. She was a member of the Twin Cities Area Newcomers Club and President from 1979-1980. She was a member of the Lakeshore Public Schools Board of Education serving two terms, including as President. Participation in her children’s educational process was very important to her. Later in life she worked for the local Chamber of Commerce and at All-Phase Electric. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, knitting, scrapbooking, cooking and spending time with friends. Peg is survived by her husband, Dale Morse of Stevensville; daughter, Susan (Morse) Kazmierzak and her husband Brian Kazmierzak of South Bend; son, Doug Morse and husband Michael Abare of Los Angeles; brother Max Lipperd and wife Wilda Lipperd; four grandchildren Mitchell, 6, and Mason, 3, of South Bend; Brayden, 5, and Henry, 1, of Los Angeles; one niece, Jennifer (Lipperd) Cleall of Middlesex, England; and two nephews, Jason Lipperd and Charlie Lipperd of Indianapolis. Peg was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Lipperd, and her father, Vere Lipperd.
