Marie Puterbaugh

Marie L. Puterbaugh, 97, of St. Joseph, passed away May 2, 2011 at Jordan's Life Care Center in Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday May 7, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Lorie Hartzell officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Those wishing to sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Marie was born June 21, 1913 in El Paso, Texas to Pauline and Henry Valle. She attended Benton Harbor High School, and worked for 30 years at Industrial Rubber. Marie attended Beauty College and became the owner of Smart Set Hair Salon. In her spare time she enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, watching the Lawrence Welk show and old movies. Marie is survived by her daughter Dolores (Robert) Alti of St. Joseph; sister Evelyn (Emory) Smith of Benton Harbor; brother Frank Valle of Chicago; sister Martha Pfayth of Florida; 4 grandchildren: Nancy Alti, Michael Womack, Michele Burnside, and Judith Hansen; 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband Guy Puterbaugh; grandson Mark Alti; daughter Darlene Kiessling; and several brothers and sisters.
