Mary's Obituary
Mary F. Leitz, 87, of Stevensville, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
A Memorial service will be held 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market St., St. Joseph with pastor Thomas Batsky officiating. Friends may visit from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. Mary was born February 19, 1923 in Monon Township, IN to Gilbert & Sarah (Chamberlaine) Smith. On December 28, 1940 she married Warren Leitz in St. Joseph. Mary was a volunteer at the local hospital in St. Joseph and in McAllen, Texas. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, baking, and making flower arrangements.
Mary is survived by her daughter Karen (Jerry) Schlaack of St. Joseph; son Douglas (Diana) Leitz of Dallas, GA; five grandchildren Donald Schlaack “Fiancée†(Kimmie Grigereit) of St. Joseph, Michael (Angela) Schlaack of Stevensville, Ronda McGraw of Beckley, West Virginia, Kimberly Leitz of Dallas, Georgia and Ryan (Rebecca) Leitz of Hiram, Georgia; six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister Maxine Kerstetter of Mesa, AZ; brother Gilbert Smith of Monticello, IN. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers and two sisters.
