Vera's Obituary
Benton Harbor – Vera Jean Martin, 78, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on Friday, October 7, 2010. A celebration of her life will be held on 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 11, at Starks and Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Lake Shore Cemetery in Hagar Township. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends wishing to sign the family guestbook or to leave a message may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service.
Vera was born April 9, 1932 in St. Joseph, MI to Ewald and Helen (Marutz) Johns. She married Claud Martin on November 18, 1961 in Riverside.
Vera is survived by her daughters, Lori (Bryce) Roberts of Graniteville, S.C. and Gail (Rod) Reeves of Benton Harbor, MI, stepchildren, Ken Martin, Claudia Stephens and Linda Tay, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ewald and Helen, husband, Claud and brothers, Richard and Robert.
